Press Release for the 1st issue of Brer Warrior

June 21st 2010 (Pontiac, MI) - Comic book publisher Graffiti On The Sun tags a new dawn over the comic book industry with the release of companies print comic Brer Warrior issue 1.

The comic book series Brer Warrior is loosely based on the folktales of Brer Rabbit. However, Brer Warrior takes what we know about Brer Rabbit stories and infuses them with a mix of pulse pounding kung-fu action, a bit of Science Fiction a street edge and even a bit of social commentary. Giving us not only a fresh take on the character but is the beginning of the beams of new light that Graffiti On The Sun will shine on the comic industry.

“Brer Rabbit was a character that I loved as a kid.” Says Brer Warrior’s creator Martin Jackson. “When I decided to start my comic book company I knew Brer Warrior was a tale I needed to tell.”

Brer Warrior is set in a land of anthropomorphic animal that’s been taken over by a mysteries group of aliens. Life under the rule of these aliens is miserable. Some animals have started to fight back, some niche out position of powers, and some even turn to lives of crime and substance abuse to get by. Brer Warrior is a gifted martial artist who is pretty much wanted by all sides. Will he defend the land and free the animals? Will he side with powers that be or will he fall to a life of crime?

Brer Warrior Issue 1 is on sale right now and can be bought at

IndyPlanet.com (http://www.indyplanet.com/index.php?id=3849)

And retailers can order copies at comicsmonkey.com (http://www.comicsmonkey.com/index.php?id=3849)

“As a new artist I can understand where people will be unwilling to try unknown talent even at a low cover price, so I’m posting one page previews of Brer Warrior issue every week http://graffiti-on-the-sun.blogspot.com starting June 26 2010, to allow people to see what’s in the book.” States Mr. Jackson.

Graffiti On The Sun presents a completely random often poorly drawn kinda shorta maybe sometimes funny comic strip and by funny we are not sure if the

Yesterday I meantioned that Amazon didn't except the name of my short little ebook because they thought I didn't put in the name.

Well that is all fixed and I am happy to say that Graffiti On The Sun presents a completely random often poorly drawn kinda shorta maybe sometimes funny comic strip and by funny we are not sure if they mean funny as in humors or funny as in odd or strange 99 cent ebook thingy can now be bought on the Kindle (and all Kindle apps)

It's a small collection of 8 1 panel comics that I drew over the weekend, The title is truthful because the art is poor (I drew the comics quick most of the time I spent on this was actually thinking of jokes and formatting it for the ebook)

That's right I'm telling you this book is a bit crappy, at least the art.

Humor is subjective so it's hard to say if you will find this stuff funny or not.

also I think you should know that in a week or so I will put all the comics up online (on it's own site/blog) and you can read the comics for free if you don't want to waste .99 but there a few extras in the book you can only read in the kindle book (but honestly you probably won't care about reading a few sophomoric jokes in poem form)

man I am very down on what is actually Graffiti On the Sun's first release (even though Brer Warrior is going to be this companies first print comic) but the truth is mostly a test (that for some odd reason I decided to make long runny webcomic which work I plan on rushing while I spend most of my time actually focusing on other projects)

name to long for Amazon?

Hmmmm is there a limit to how long a title can be on amazon?

Because I submitted a very short little ebook to be sold on the kindle and they seem to think that there is no way that title can be real.

Fresh New Look

I redesigned the site.

I hope you like this blog's new look.

I honestly was thinking about changing the look of the site but it just happened that blogger introduced new stuff and I was able to come up with something I like using the stuff they have.

Though I may had a few things later on.

2am corrections oh and ka-blam is great

I have to say Ka-Blam has great service.

I messed up on the dimensions of my files (a big goof on my part) but they where quick to contact me and gave me the right dimensions and even though it was my mistake they where very nice toward me.

also there response time was rather quick.

I just finished up correction everything. sent them the files and since it's past 2 am here I'm going to bed.

nighty night every one.

actually I guess I should say good morning since it's been a new day for 2 hours.

arrgh!!!

I've learned a lot of things working on this comic.

And a big reason why I learned stuff was because I made mistakes that needed to be fixed.

Just when I thought I was done I found out I missed up on my formatting of the comic.

So you'll have to wait a bit for the release of Brer Warrior 1 as I go and fix my mistakes.

blam! when pricing hits you

Comic prices have gotten really high recently. Odds are if you are reading this you are a fan of comics and already know that.

$4 bucks for an issue of your favorite comic

Because of the high prices I want to make sure that Brer Warrior has a low price point, so you don't have to rob a bank to read a comic.

I may have priced it too low and odds are because of that you will only be able to get it online. we'll see.

That's right Brer Warrior issue 1 is priced so low it's illegal.

ok maybe not illegal

Brer Warrior issue one sent to the printers...now what?

I just sent the first issue of Brer Warrior to the printer.

It's odd I'm happy that I finished the first issue but I've been working on this issue for so long that I have this oddly sad feeling wondering what should I do next. Even though I still have many things to do in relation to this comic (and life in general)

I guess it feels out not opening up gimp and to work on the art

Maybe that's it I'm feeling a bit of artist twitch...I need to draw something.

2 kilo deka

Early in the year I decided to make a comic called 2 kilo deka. I hoped to get it done near the beginning to cash in on the question "what do we call this decade?" And I hoped to had 2 kilo deka as the new lexicon for 2010.

But since it's the year is half over and

1. I got busy working on other stuff
and
2. I looked at some of the jokes I wrote the the comic and even though they where written this year some already seem old and dated.

so instead of putting out a print comic I'll post some comics here. Some will be quick, like the comic below and is just pencils and no inking.

About the company name

So a few days after I registered my business my mother asked me why did I name my company Graffiti On The Sun. I told her the reason but I realize that some of you may be wondering the same thing so I decided I'll finally tell you.

If you look back far enough you will notice that this blog didn't start out as a comic book company but as my graphic design portfolio. When I was trying to come up with a name for my portfolio that sound better then just Martin Jackson's Portfolio the name Graffiti On The Sun popped into my head and I thought it sounded nice.

After I thought about for a little bit I realize that not only did it sound cool but it's one of those things that you could easily throw meaning behind. I can see it mean reaching for great heights. I mean you have to get pretty high to spray paint the sun.

And because of that I thought it was a great name.

Later on I finally decided to follow my long time dream and start a comic book company. But I needed a name. Once again going with just my name. This time not only because it seems dull but it would probably make it seem like I have a big ego. So I thought about it and came up with another name. But not Graffiti On The Sun.

So with this other name I created a blog and used it to talk about comics. Then in April when I decided to official start my company I realize I didn't care much for the name for a company (though it was great for a comic blog) and decided it best to go with a different name.

Then Graffiti On The Sun popped back into my head. At first I didn't want to use it because I was already using it for my graphic design blog. But I couldn't shake it, the more I tried to come up with another name the more I realize how perfect Graffiti on The Sun is for my comics.

So I went with it.

That's the story it's a simple (or deep depending on your view) as that.
